Supplements
What are supplements?
The working definition of "Supplement" is: something added to complete a thing, make up for a deficiency, or extend or strengthen the whole. I highlighted the part about the deficiency, because most people actually believe that they have some kind of deficiency because that is what dietary supplement companies advertise and literally brain wash you to believe. There are people that are living to be over a 120 years old, obviously, no supplements existed in their lifetimes and they did just fine. I am not hating on all supplements, there are a lot of supplements that are actually proven to work. My sources for whether a supplement works or not are usually scientific journals or articles. I love to use www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed or Google Scholar to find relevant and accurate scientific journals/articles. It is sometimes hard to follow certain experiments if you use those websites, that is what I am here for. So if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
Most supplements are ruining people's lives right now!
You are probably wondering how are supplements ruining people's lives right now? All the false advertising and false tests that are going on right now is ridiculous. Most supplements on the market right now haven't even been approved by the FDA. There is a lot of crazy stuff out right now that is only a few years old and nobody knows the long term affects. There are babies being born with higher rates of autism, abnormalities, or other disorders. I blame this because of the mentality of Western Healthcare. In European countries instead of giving someone pills for high blood pressure they usually try to convince the patient to start working out and living a healthier lifestyle. Supplements are the easy way out for some people, because they don't like to get the job done right the hard way. You can usually tell which type of people will rely on supplements. If you wash your car and you put all your cleaning supplies away including the long hose used to rinse the car and then five birds take a dump on your car, are you going to take everything out again? Or are you going to say "Fuck it, I don't feel like getting the hose out again, I'll clean it off another time"? Usually the latter is the type to take supplements, because they prefer to take the easy way out. That type of personality does not get far in life. That being said, there are still a lot of supplements that might assist you depending on your activity levels. There are a lot of studies being done in the UK concerning supplements and your overall health. Check out the links below.
